Lot Essay

A so called "schraubthaler" of Ferdinant III, dated 1641, the reverse with the towers of the town of Augsburg and the text: "Augusta vin Delicorum" (Free town Augsburg). The mint-master mark, three horse-shoes, is of Johann Bartholomeus Holeisen (worked 1639-1688). The schraubthaler is probably made up of two hollowed-out thalers.
