Maker's mark HB conjoined crowned (unidentified), Town mark a cross within circle most likely for Zutphen, circa 1730, also struck with later Dutch control mark of exemption of payment of duty from 1807
Each set on a slightly tapering cylindrical stem on moulded foot, the rim engraved with two stylised wavy foliate bands, the bombé lower part of each octagonal body chased with stylised shells and foliate ornament on matted ground, the spreading arched upper part with eight classical pillars with shells between, suspending eight parcel-gilt bells (some replaced), the domed open-worked top decorated similarly, fitted with four balls and eight slanting baluster knobs (three lacking), the parcel-gilt openworked floral crown finial supported by an openworked foliated knob
