Lot Essay

Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Wyndham, who was born in 1819 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Madras Army in 1840, finally retired in 1861. The 5th Madras N.I. served with the 2nd Brigade, Madras Division, and participated in the second capture of Pegu and in operations carried out during the programme of pacification.
