Lot Essay

Captain George Lawson James was born in 1826, the son of a Brigadier-General, Madras Army and was commissioned as an Ensign in the 5th Madras N.I. in August 1842. He was promoted to Captain in September 1850 and died at Rangoon whilst on active service on 22.6.1853.
