Captain Guy Williams Sanders was born in 1829 and was educated at Kensington Grammar School prior to being commissioned as an Ensign in the 9th Madras N.I. in February 1849. The Regiment formed part of the original Madras Brigade and, from September 1852, part of the 1st Brigade, Madras Division. Sanders retired in 1865 and died on 21.11.1867.
