Lot Essay

Captain George Arthur Sandys was commissioned as an Ensign in the 35th Madras N.I. in August 1843, became a Lieutenant in March 1845 and was present 'at the operations in the vicinity and capture of Rangoon in April 1852, and several minor affairs'. Advanced to Captain in January 1855, Sandys died at Madras on his return from furlough on 17.10.1857.
