The 1st Battalion, 17th Dogra Regiment participated in the successful night action at Iblanke on the North West Frontier 11-12.5.1937; the Burma Campaign with the 5th Division and the Java operations of 1945-46, where their Machine-Gun Battalion suffered heavy casualties in actions with the Indonesian nationalists.
