the ivory satin silk ground appliquéd with spot motifs worked in embroidered coloured silks and some metal thread with roses, tulips, irises, pansies and medallions of a stag, a lion, a squirrel and a wolf around a circular medallion in the centre depicting Orpheus wearing a laurel crown, seated under a tree in a landscape, charming the animals with the sound of his lyre (metamorphoses 10:86-105), with a stag and a lion at his sides, a squirrel in the tree and a bird in flight approaching him--20 x 17in. (50 x 42cm.), glazed, in a tortoiseshell veneered frame
