ENGLISH, CIRCA 1640
of ivory satin, worked in much raised work with a lady and a gentleman, their clothes of cloth of silver embroidered with flowers, with their child and a dog standing by a tent on a green plushwork lawn, the reserves with a lady and a gentleman, a palace, a horse, a pig, a peapod and a thistle, a fish in a pond, the border worked with a squirrel, a snail, a hound chasing a rabbit, butterflies and birds, strawberries and exotic flowers, with a lion, a leopard, a unicorn and a stag at each corner; the whole scene seme with spangles and edged with silver lace sewn with sequins, the back with pink silk --12 x 16in. (30 x 41cm.), on wooden stand lined with green velvet
