The white marble top inlaid with a central griotte medallion and concave-sided lateral panels flanked by ribbon-tied low relief medallions emblematic of the Arts of Poetry, Sculpture, Music and Painting, above a receding acanthus-carved frieze underlined by drapery-linked lions' masks and paws supported by laurel-carved scrolling volutes, above a shaft carved as a Ionic stop-fluted column issuing four scrolling volutes above a circular platform carved with oak leaves, on a concave-sided beaded square stepped plinth
