The elaborate chariot with foliate decoration to the sides, drawn by two rearing horses, the driver struggling to restrain them, on a naturalistically-cast base inscribed P. LECOURTIER ANNEE 1904 and with foundry inscription COPYRIGHT 1904 EMILE SCHMOLL; on a painted wooden pedestal, simulating veined brown marble, with panelled sides and stepped base
