A scrimshaw decorated whale bone oval ditty box
incised around the outside with a whaling scene and figure of a sailor and on the inside with an 'M' and a sketch of a whale's jaw, secured to itself with three riveted 'fingers', pinned to a wooden base with felt base and wooden lid (later); together with a 6in. scrimshaw decorated whale's tooth (very faded, tip broken), the box -- 8in. (20.3cm.) diameter
