by Augustin-André Héguin (fl. 1785 - after 1819), marked, with the excise and third standard marks for gold, Paris 1819-1838, and the post-Revolutionary unofficial standard mark for 18 carat gold, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks or gold
Circular box, the independent slightly tapering cover and base engine-turned with a reeded sunrise motif radiating from the border of the circular panel, the sides engraved with horizontally reeded engine-turning, all within flutes borders, the frosted gold rims stamped with trailing foliage, polished gold rims, the lower part of the base unscrewing to reveal a secret compartment fitted to conceal a miniature
