The rectangular hinged top with a three sided pierced gallery, opening to a blue taffeta padded compartment and a later mirror, over a frieze to all sides set with leaf-tipped roundels and foliate paterae to the corners, one side with two hidden short drawers the central slide pulls out to two small hidden compartments, on lyre shaped supports and splayed legs, joined by a stretcher, with a blue chalk inscription 65707 and two tags 5677 and 34

Louis Aubry, maître in 1774.

This jewel-like table, almost certainly commissioned by a marchand-mercier owing to the rare combination of ébénisterie and bronze doré, was first published by the comte de Salverte in 1962:-

J'ai vu de lui (Aubry) chez M. Coblence, l'antiquaire du faubourg Saint-Honoré, un chef-d'oeuvre de goût et d'ingéniosité: c'est une miniscule table de dame, avec une ceinture d'amarante, un dessus en mosaique à quadrillages et deux pieds de cuivre doré simulant des lyres; l'un des côtés de cette table s'ouvre par un ressort et forme un tiroir derrière lequel se masquent encore des petits casiers à secret.
