FOUR CHESLEA AND CHELSEA-DERBY DESSERT PLATES
1765-1770, two with gold anchor marks, one with an entwined gold anchor and script D mark, the fourth unmarked
Each shaped pentafoil plate with scroll-moulded rim enriched in gilt; one reserved as a five-petal flower edged in gilt on a turquoise ground, the center en grisaille with a vase, the petals with flower sprigs; the second painted with a tight bouquet, the border with five heart-shaped turquoise cartouches edges in gilt and suspending gilt laurel garlands and pendant medallions painted with musical trophies on a pink ground; the thirf en grisaille with a classical urn, the scalloped turquoise oeil-de-perdrix border edged with flower garlands; the fourth with a loose bouquet of a purple tulip, pink rose and other flowers, the border with five mazarine blue cartouches edged with rocaille cornucopiae issuing flowers
