A large Harlingen Frisian faience oval topographical plaque
Late 19th century
Painted in washed colours after a Makkum example with a view of the village of Sloten near Amsterdam, with flatboats and an Overtoom, a large mechanism which dragged or lifted small craft over a dyke, depicting peasant folks, further with a faraway village, above a huge scrolled console enclosing a mascaroon, pseudo dated 1792 above APK to the back, with shaped raised marbled border
