A large Makkum Frisian faience oval topographical plaque
Late 19th century
Painted in colours with a view of the village of Pingjum near Makkum, after a coloured engraving from Vaderlandsche gezichten by C.F. Bendorp, after a drawing by J. Bulthuis (1784), depicting a Frisian village street, above a diaper-work cartouche, pseudo dated 1756 and scrolling acanthus leaves, the raised border with scrolls (restored)
