A fine and rare 7-inch (17.8cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe, made up of twelve delicately coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees, hours and minutes, the meridian of Paris graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, the Antarctic with little detail beyond Enderby's Land and Wilke's Land, Hawaii with a note reading où fut assassiné Cook, the continents outlined in green with some nation states delicately outlined in orange and showing rivers, mountains, towns, cities and the Great Wall of China (some discrete restoration and some discolouration, small crack around South Pole), the North Pole with printed hour dial and stamped brass hour dial, with engraved brass meridian half-circle, raised on a short brass-topped ebonised tapered wooden column and plinth base -- 13¾in. (34.9cm.) high
