A 15-inch (38.1cm.) diameter terrestrial globe made up of twelve colour-printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and Greenwich meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days but unnumbered, the oceans showing ocean currents and steamship routes with ports of arrival and departure, the continents with some nation states outlined according to national possession, Madagascar shown as French, Panama shown as Columbian, further showing towns, cities, rivers, mountains, railway lines and other details (numerous areas of light abrasion and discolouration, some neatly repaired old cracks with redrawing and loss of detail) with stamped brass meridian half-circle, raised on a baluster-turned ebonised column and three cabriole legs, an outswinging compass mount with compass with blued-steel needle fixed beneath the column -- 30in. (76.2cm.) high
