AN ATTIC RED-FIGURED KALPIS
Attributed to the Tyszkiewicz Painter, Circa 490-480 B.C.
The shoulder panel with Nike standing in the center serving two seated bearded deities, presumably Zeus and Poseidon, the goddess with her wings out-stretched, wearing a chiton, a himation and a sakkos, both gods clad in voluminous himations, holding a scepter or trident (restored incorrectly) in one hand and a phiale in the other, a standing draped figure of Hebe to the left, all but Nike with fillets in added red, indented sketch lines visible on all four figures, the panel framed by a band of meander above, pomegranate chain on either side, and a band of black palmettes below, extensive graffiti on the underside of the foot
