A SYRIAN HAEMATITE CYLINDER SEAL
Circa 1900-1700 B.C.
With a hero between a bull and a baboon, the thin-waisted hero nude but for a belt, grasping the fore-paw of the baboon in one hand, extending the other hand above the bull's hump, a plant between the hero and the bull, a cobra below the baboon, a large vulture on the wing above, a small vulture above the hero, a falcon between them, a band of guilloche above the bull, a small vulture standing on the lower register line to the left, a lotus flower rising from the left end of the upper register line, a goat walking to the left above
