Lot Essay

The present drawing is a study for central figures of a painted ceiling in the Lecture Theatre apse at the South Kensington (Victoria and Albert) Museum, the painting was not executed. (See J. Physick, The Victoria and Albert Museum, Oxford, 1982, pl. XXX).
