Well potted with spherical body and tall waisted neck, finely enamelled with iron-red bats and colourful clouds between gold bands, petal panels, and a lotus frieze collar with shou characters around the shoulder

A covered bowl and a massive dish, decorated with this subject, and bearing Guangu marks, and dating from the period, were included in the exhibition 'Imperial Porcelain of the Late Qing' from the Kwan Collection, Art Gallery, Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, nos. 138 and 139. It is noted in the accompanying catalogue op. cit., that the 'hundred bats' was one of the newly composed designs of the reign. Bats and clouds symbolise sky-high happiness
