Lot Essay

See D. S. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, 1974, London, p.616. This service was made for William Henry (1742-1805), third son of Frederick Lewis, Prince of Wales, son of King George II. He was created Duke of Gloucester in 1764.
