The multi-knopped stems similarly painted with horizontal bands of petals, hatch-pattern and scrolling flowers, rising from octagonal slightly domed bases with flower sprays above a band of petals, fritted, one stem restuck

Lot Essay

This form is probably taken from a late 17th Century European brass candlestick. A similar single candlestick is in the Hodroff Collection, illustrated by David S. Howard, The Choice of the Private Trader, 1994, no.254.
