2 parts in one volume, small 8°, woodcut printer's device on titles and on verso of final leaves of both parts, historiated woodcut initials (faint waterstaining throughout, a few marginal repairs, marginal thumb-soiling or spotting), contemporary gold-tooled vellum, medallion on sides with gilt-ruled border, flat spine lavishly decorated with scrolling foliate tools and lettered, yapp edges (lightly soiled), g.e.
Second edition(?) of Rossello's Secrets of the Universe, in which he discusses 'miracle' water and unguents and prescribes their use, cures for a variety of ailments, including the plague, and other remedies. A popular handbook printed in numerous editions, all are rare. The Wellcome and the National and University Library at Ljubljana, Slovenia, have one earlier edition of 1561, but standard bibliographies cite later editions, if any.
