A SILVER MOUNTED EXHIBITION BOWIE KNIFE BY JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS, SHEFFIELD, CIRCA 1880
The large straight spear point blade with false edge, back with file-worked flutes, mouldings and fullers running parallel to back, marked +JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS/*6 NORFOLK STREET. SHEFFIELD, silver guard worked in a fine foliage, stag horn grip, fluted silver pommel cap, leather covered wood sheath with silver throat and chape, each engraved with scrolls and floral drapery, the throat with fluted belt hook
14 1/16 inch (35.7cm.) blade; 20¾ inches (52.7cm.) overall length with sheath
