AN HISTORIC VICTORIAN SILVER-MOUNTED IVORY TANKARD
Marked Frederick Elkington, Birmingham, 1881
The cylindrical ivory body inlaid with mixed metal scene with foliage, storks, and crabs in the Japanesque taste, the curved ivory handle inlaid with vines and insects, the body with silver-mounted collar and handle joins, the base of clear glass. With paper label glued to glass base on which is noted "Elephant tusk/Shot in India/by Prince of Wales/+ given to the/Earl of Fife"
