The drawing is probably related to a print of L'éloquence, J. Thuillier et al., Vouet, exhib. cat., Galeries nationales du Grand Palais, Paris, 1990, p. 63, illustrated. The print, in reverse to the drawing, shows the same figure, though draped and with putti and a lion at its side.
The print, inscribed 'S. Vouet pinxit', is one of the only print known by Pierre Mignard. It was engraved when Mignard was working in Vouet's studio in 1632-4.
Similarly to the preset drawing a figure of Endymion drawn in the nude appears draped in the tapestry of Diane and Endymion, now in the château in Châteaudun, J. Thuillier, op. cit., no. 72, illustrated.
