The repetition of figures within Horemans's compositions perhaps reflects his practice of keeping modelbooks. See for instance Peasants in a Courtyard, offered at Sotheby's, New York, Jan. 12, 1995, lot 130 in which the seated man, boy and standing woman are repeated and in which a figure of a woman with a basket reappears.
