A fine sampler dated 1732, worked in coloured silks on linen, the lower half with bands of darning samples, the upper half with alphabets, numerals and various spot motifs including a key, monogram and coronet in fine metal threads, a peacock, dog, bird, tree, butterfly and vase of flowers, all within a narrow floral border--17½ x 13½in. (44.5 x 34cm.), possibly German, framed and glazed
