An oak longcase clock, first half 19th century
The hood with swan neck pediment (damaged) and small glazed arched side panels, brass-capped pilasters, with breakarch trunk door, on shortened plinth, case restored and with later backboard, the 12in. wide brass dial with female mask and foliate spandrels to the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring and square date aperture, black painted hands (minute lacking), with later silvered signature plaque to the arch inscribed Rob.t Alexander LIETH [sic], the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, with split seatboard -- 82in. (208cm.) high
