The first a regulation 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword with fullerd blade bearing etched decoration, blued and gilt, in its gilt-mounted black leather scabbard; the second an 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword with fine levée-weight blade bearing 'VR' cypher and other etched decoration, gilt-brass guard (the gilt largely rubbed) with folding flap and 'VR' in the cartouche, and brass scabbard; the third a Royal Artillery Officer's sword with massive plated blade bearing the thunderbolt and other devices of the Artillery, a family crest and owner's initials, in its brown leather scabbard (lacking frog-tab)
