A Pair Of 18th Century Decorative Door Lintels With Nautical Motifs

Each lintel is carved from oak. The first has a full rigged ship carved in relief and flanked on either side by a dolphin. Flowing out from the center and under the dolphins is an ancanthus motif. The second is centered by a crest with a lion and the inscription "Fortitir Cerit Crucem". On either side of the crest is a dolphin, and flowing out from the center, and under the dolphins is an ancanthus motif.
10½ x 69 in.(26.6 x 175.3 cm.) the larger of the two. (2)
