AN INSCRIBED THREE-PART RUYI SCEPTRE INKSTICK
DATED KANGXI YICHOU, CORRESPONDING TO A.D. 1685 AND OF THE PERIOD
The top of the shaft moulded with a full-faced dragon above rocks rising from waves on the ruyi-head, the centre part with a deer below a monkey in a tree, the sceptre with a peacock on rockwork, the sides with Daoist motifs, the reverse with engraved gilt inscriptions, the one on the top of the shaft reading Songyandu Huyuanxiang Taishou, an official title, the one below reading 'Kangxi, the year yichou, Xin'an Hall, made under supervision according to the Yishui Method', and with two seals, Ji, Yang (cracked)--17½in.
