No other faceted jar of this design appears to have been published. A similar shaped guan with a related band of design around the neck with flower-heads enclosed by inverted pendent lappets and a knobbed classic scroll ground on which the large ogival panels are superimposed, excavated from Anshan, Liaoning Province and now in the Anshan Cultural Relics Office is illustrated in Chinese Pottery and Porcelain, Foreign Languages Press, Beijing, pl. 39; the ogival panels with the Three Friends and landscapes including mandarin ducks in a lotus pond; modelled animal masks form the handles. Another octagonal jar with cover in The Royal Palace Museum, Ayuthia, Thailand, is illustrated by Michel and Cecile Beurdeley, Chinese Ceramics, pl. 48; the ogival panels of melons, lotus-sprays and lotus ponds; the handles in the form of chimera heads.

Among other faceted forms in the Yuan period, the yuhuchunping occurs most often; rare octagonal shapes include the meiping, and double gourd vase
