The deep bowl painted to the exterior with three pairs of mandarin ducks within a dense flowering lotus pond, below a frieze of six striding dragons chasing flaming pearls, the base of the interior painted with another pair of ducks, one in flight above another swimming within a lotus pond below a band of lanca characters at the rim--6½in. A pair of Daoguang bowls of this design are illustrated by Gulland, Chinese Porcelain, vol. II, nos. 884 and 885; another from the Simon Kwan Collection was exhibited at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, Imperial Porcelain of the Late Qing, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 31.
