A FINE PAIR OF BLUE-GROUND FAMILLE ROSE 'MEDALLION' BOWLS
DAOGUANG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

Each painted around the exterior with four circular medallions reserved on a pale blue ground finely incised with feathery scroll-pattern embellished by colourful cloud-scrolls, one painted with illustrations from the story of the 'Cowherd and the Weaver Girl' including a figure on buffalo-back among magpies and clouds, another with a figure standing among cloud-scrolls and magpies, the remaining two with exterior pavilion and garden scenes below constellations, the interiors painted in blue and white with the meeting of the two lovers in the Milky Way surrounded by birds and clouds--5 3/4in. (14.6cm.) diam. (2)
