A FINE PAIR OF DOUCAI BOWLS
ENCIRCLED YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD

Finely potted with gently rounded sides, the exterior painted and enamelled with the Eight Daoist Emblems, hongbao, between a band of ruyi-heads around the foot and an interlinked C-scroll in underglaze blue around the rim, the interior painted and enamelled in the medallion with two peaches on a leafy branch within a double circle, repeated around the rim, original flaw to biscuit of one foot --5¼in. (13.3cm.) diam. (2)

Lot Essay

Similar bowls from the T.Y. Chao Collection were included in the Exhibition of Ch'ing Porcelain from the Wah Kwong Collection, Hong Kong, 1973 and are illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 89.
