A VERY RARE EARLY MING CLOISONNE ENAMEL STEMBOWL
INCISED JIINGTAI FOUR-CHARACTER MARK, 15TH/16TH CENTURY

Finely decorated to the interior with three carp picked out in yellow, red and brown swimming amid a dense ground filled with a variety of water weeds around the central medallion with lotus petal border enclosing a fruiting peach spray, the exterior with an undulating lotus scroll issuing six full blooms in yellow, navy, aubergine and white above a border of thin triangular plantain leaves above the straight stem foot with another four plantain leaves containing pairs of peony flowers, the hollow stem foot lined in gilt copper--5 3/4in. (14.6cm.) diam.
