Contained in a rectangular cabinet on bracket feet fitted with four drawers, shelf and upper tray decorated in two colors of gold in hiramaki-e with Tokugawa hollyhock crests (aoi-mon) and scrolling foliage on a roiro and mura-nashiji ground, the interiors of the drawers matching the ground, the rims fundame and the drawer pulls silver cast in the form of hollyhock crests; the utensils of the set decorated en suite and comprise: a square cosmetic box and cover, a round cosmetic box and cover with removable saucer-type tray of red lacquer, a silver oblong box and cover and a silver lobed jarlet and cover each engraved with the same hollyhock crests and foliate scrolls and fitted with bud-form knops, and a large group of utensils wrapped in thick packets of colored papers decorated with blue hollyhock crests which includes four large double-brushes, four medium double-brushes, a set of six double-brushes of graduated size, two small pointed-tip brushes, two small double-brushes, a small scoop, two brushes with long handles fitted with silk tassels, six hair combs, two metal tweezers, a brush and matching styling stick of ivory lacquered with gold hollyhock crests and foliate scroll, and four ivory sticks identically lacquered for mixing cosmetic pastes--dimensions of case 13 1/8 x 9¼ x 13½in.
