Constructed with a rectangular plinth supporting two deep, rectangular containers for books which are enclosed by a rectangular cover decorated with crests of pinks (nadeshiko-mon), the book containers and surface of the plinth lacquered in roiro and nashiji with fundame edges which is repeated on the inside of the cover, the outside of the cover patterned with large and smaller plum medallions in gold and silver and black hiramaki-e on a mura-nashiji ground, side ring fittings silver with pinks centers, now containing an anthology of imperially-commissioned poetry in twenty-one volumes--17 x 11 1/8 x 13in. (43.2 x 28.3 x 33cm.)
