Isabel Mackereth was the daughter of John and Mrs. Mackereth, who, at one time, ran Hill Top Farm. Isabel Mackereth was the lucky recipient of many inscribed copies from Potter. V & A 1591 lists a copy of this title inscribed to Isabel [Mackereth] dated 1927; see Beatrix Potter: The V & A Collection (London, 1985) for other copies.
Provenance
Isabel Mackereth, presentation inscription on front free endpaper (dated "Oct.24.1925"); Edith Mary (Parker?) Newton, with presentation inscription from the author on the half-title (dated "Oct 24.25").
