A GEORGE III SILVER SOUP-TUREEN AND COVER

Of oval bombé form raised on four acanthas scroll and shell feet terminating in octagonal pads, the gadrooned rim with anthemion at intervals, with two bifurcated leaf-clad reeded scroll handles, the domed cover chased with a band of dentilation and surmounted by a double-scroll foliate and shell handle, the side engraved front and back with a coat-of-arms, helm and motto within scrolling mantling, the cover with a crest and baronet's badge, with plated liner, marked on base and cover -- length over handles 16½ in. (41.9 cm.)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Blunt quartering those of Peers Symons and impaling those of Barker, for Sir Charles Richard Blunt, 4th Bt., born in 1775, th eson of Sir Charles William Blunt, 3rd Bt. and his wife Elizabeth, dau;ghter of Alderman Richard Peers and sister and heir of Sir Richard Peers Symons. Sir Charles Richard Blunt married in 1824 Sophia, daughter of Richard Baker. He died in 1840.
