Of campana-form on spreading pedestal bases chased with a band of tied laurel, the lower part of the bodies chased with scrolling acanthus and honeysuckle under applied ovolo bands and applied above with trailing grapevine, each with two rams' mask handles and everted egg-and-dart rims, with removable collars chased with a band of grapevine on a matted ground and with c;ylindrical liners, marked on bodies, collars and liners -- 10 in. (26 cm.) high

Lot Essay

Four identical wine-coolers of the same date and struck with the same maker's mark were sold by the order of the Trustees of the Knole Estates, Christie's, London, May 20, 1987, lot 190 and are now in the Al-Tajir Collection. A furthe rpair of the same date was sold in the same Rooms, Decmber 14, 1988, lot 141. Three others are in the Frick Collection, New York.
