FIRST EDITION, text in French and German, engraved frontispiece, engraved folding map of the gardens of Würzburg, 101 colored engraved plates, 11 engraved plates of pruning and grafting techniques, 7 engraved head-pieces illustrating parts of gardens.
"A delightful and charming work" (Dunthorne) with highly finished plates, some of the best 18th century illustrations of fruit. This portion comprises all the fruits with the exception of apples and pears, which appear in the third volume which was published 21 years later in 1801 and is often wanting.
