A CHARLES II EBONY DUTCH STRIKING SMALL BRACKET CLOCK

Within a phase III case with gilt foliate scroll escutcheons to the door and foliate mounts to the caddy top, restored carrying handle, the signed six inch square dial with silvered chapter ring sometime reversed but now returned to show its original surface enclosing calendar aperture and winding holes in the matted center, winged cherub spandrels, the twin fusee movement with latches to the dial feet and five vase-shaped pillars, numbered and crossed out outside countwheel for the Dutch strike on two bells by means of linked hammers, restored verge escapement, the tulip engraved backplate signed Joseph Knibb Londini fecit in a slight curve, c. 1680s--11in. (28cm.) high
