The chamfered plinth with ball feet and flared skirt, the trunk with shaped door enhanced with carved scroll and gilt lenticle, the hood with plain columns supporting arched frieze with scroll frets below bell top, flambeau finials, the dial with aperture for age and aspect of moon in the arch, silvered chapter ring enclosing seconds ring, alarm disc, date aperture and signature plaque in the matted center, the spandrels cast and chased with leafy scrolls strapwork and shells, the movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement, Dutch striking on two bells with strike/silent lever at III o'clock, and subsidiary alarm train, mid 18th century
