A GEORGE III SILVER TEA-URN, London, 1768, maker's mark of David Whyte (see Grimwade, unregistered marks, 3535), the ovoid body on short cylindrical ste, on shaped square molded base resting on four foliate scroll feet with pierced floral apron between, headed by foliate shell, the base, body and waisted cover chased with fluted pales, the body centering coat-of-arms, motto and ?later initials, with part foliate and beaded spigot to the ivory tap, with beaded twisted tendril handle terminating in flowerspray, with lobenxe and bead and guilloche borders and rims, the cover engraved iwth crest and topped by flame form finial below beaded festoon band, the interior fitted with covered pig compartment and iron--21in. (53.3cm.) high, weighable silver 83.5oz.
