Lot Essay

These are almost certainly La guirlande assise and Le hoteur, first modelled in 1757. Another example of the male figure was in the Sainsbury collection sold, Sotheby's London, may 5, 1970, and there described as unrecorded. A figure of the girl with her complete garland is in Recueil des Modèles, no. 333.
